Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the testing of Nuclearelectrica for the installation of NuScale’s SMR technology in Romania
Portland, Ore. – NuScale Power LLC (“NuScale”) today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with the Romanian State Atomic Energy Corporation SN Nuclearelectrica SA (“Nuclearelectrica”) for engineering studies, technical reviews, and licensing and licensing. The announcement is a major step forward in the teaming agreement between NuScale and Nuclearelectrica, signed last year, under which NuScale and Nuclearelectrica are moving towards setting up a first NuScale VOYGR 6 -6 (6-module), 462 MWe power plant in Romania. The USTDA provided a grant to Nuclear Electrica in early 2021, to conduct a survey to identify and evaluate several sites across Romania, where existing coal-fired power plants could be replaced with SMR plants.
